The parent promise. In plain English.
We built this school for girls in the 10โ15 window. That means every data, safety, and moderation decision was made with a child's safety, not an adult user's convenience, as the starting point. Here's exactly what we do and why.
Your account, her info
You hold the account. We collect only her first name and age band โ nothing traceable to her without you.
Every class recorded
All live sessions are recorded. Parents can request any recording. Waiting rooms and teacher moderation on at all times.
No ads. Ever.
Zero advertising trackers in the student experience. Her data is never sold, shared, or used to train AI โ our platform's or anyone else's.
Background-checked instructors
Every instructor completes a background check before meeting any class. No exceptions.
No student-to-student DMs
There is no private messaging between students. All interaction is live, in class, with a teacher present.
COPPA-aligned by design
Designed around the FTC's amended children's privacy rules, in force since April 2026. We obtain your consent before her first session, free or paid, because that is when any information is collected. Reviewed with children's-privacy counsel before our first workshop runs.
Contents
1. What we collect โ and what we don't
From you (the parent or guardian): your first name, email address, and mobile phone number when you register for a workshop or enroll in the program. We use these to send the confirmation, reminders, and class communications.
From your daughter: her first name and age band (10โ12 or 13โ15). We do not collect her last name, date of birth, school, address, or any other written identifying detail, and we never ask her to create an account or a login. One thing we want to be explicit about, because it is easy to gloss over: every live class is recorded, and those recordings contain her image and her voice. Under the FTC's children's privacy rules that counts as personal information about her, so it is covered by the consent you give before her first session, by the sharing rules in section 3, and by the deletion rights in sections 6 and 7.
What we do not collect, ever: payment card details (handled entirely by Stripe and never seen by us), Social Security numbers, government IDs, geolocation, device identifiers, advertising IDs, or browsing history. We do not collect photographs of her outside the class recordings described above.
2. How we use it
We use parent contact information to:
- Send workshop confirmation and reminder messages
- Send the weekly parent recap ("what she built this week") once enrolled
- Communicate about the program, scheduling changes, and safety matters
- Process and manage your enrollment and billing through Stripe
We do not use contact information for advertising, remarketing, lookalike audiences, or any purpose other than running and communicating about the program.
3. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade parent or student data to any third party. We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers. We do not share data with AI companies for model training.
We use a small number of service providers who process data strictly on our behalf. We require a written data processing agreement with each provider that handles information about a child before any class runs:
- Stripe โ payment processing only. Stripe never receives student data.
- Zoom โ live class delivery. Sessions are recorded and stored by us; we use Zoom for video only.
- Email/SMS tool โ to send confirmation and reminder messages to parents only.
No advertising pixels, analytics SDKs or tracking scripts run anywhere on this site. We currently measure traffic to the public marketing pages using server-side request logs only: no JavaScript runs in your browser for this, nothing is stored on your device, and there is nothing to consent to. If we ever add a browser-based analytics tool we will say so here first.
4. Live class safety
Our live class safety rules are non-negotiable and applied in every session:
- Zoom waiting rooms are always on. No student can enter without the teacher admitting them.
- All sessions are recorded. Recordings are stored securely and available to parents on request.
- No private messaging between students in class or outside it.
- Students are referred to by first name only in class.
- Screen sharing by students is controlled by the teacher.
- Any session with a minor and a single adult instructor is recorded as standard policy.
Every instructor completes a background check through a certified provider before meeting any class. Instructors are vetted not only on technical qualifications but on child-safe communication practices.
5. Children's privacy (COPPA)
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the FTC's updated Rule (compliance deadline April 2026) require parental consent before collecting personal information from children under 13. Our design complies:
- The parent creates and holds the account. There is no student-facing account or login.
- Enrollment requires affirmative consent from a verified parent or guardian.
- We collect the minimum information about the child necessary to provide the service: first name and age band only.
- We do not disclose any child's information for advertising, marketing, or AI training โ the FTC has explicitly ruled these purposes are never integral to a children's service.
- Parents may request deletion of all information about their child at any time.
6. Data retention and deletion
We retain parent contact information for the duration of your enrollment plus 12 months for record-keeping. Payment records are retained as required by law (typically 7 years) but are held by Stripe, not us.
Student data (first name, age band, class participation records) is kept only while she is enrolled, because we need it to place her in a cohort and track the work she has finished. We delete it within 30 days of cancellation, automatically, without you having to ask.
Class recordings are kept for the school year in which they were made plus 60 days, because their only purpose is letting you review a class and letting her rewatch her own work. After that they are deleted. You can ask us to delete a specific recording of your daughter sooner and we will, subject to the other girls in the room, whose recordings we cannot delete on your request any more than we would delete hers on theirs.
Parent contact information is kept for 12 months after enrollment ends for record-keeping, unless you ask us to delete it earlier.
We do not keep any of it indefinitely, and we do not keep anything about a child because it might be useful later.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access all information we hold about you and your daughter
- Correct any inaccurate information
- Request deletion of all information (we will confirm deletion within 14 days)
- Withdraw consent for any processing at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the FTC or your state's consumer protection office
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA. Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut residents have similar rights under their state laws. We honor all these rights regardless of your state of residence.
8. Contact
Privacy questions, consent withdrawals, or deletion requests: email us at support@aischoolforgirls.com with "Privacy" in the subject line. We will respond within 5 business days.
