Every question, answered honestly

The questions parents actually ask about AI classes for girls.

No sales-page vagueness. If the honest answer helps you pick a different program, we'd rather you have it.

🎓The program

What is AI School for Girls, in one paragraph?

A year-long, girls-only online AI school for girls 10–15 — an Explorer cohort for 10–12 and a Builder cohort for 13–15. One live 75-minute class per week, same cohort of max 12 girls and same teacher for 36 weeks, background-checked instructors, quarterly showcases parents attend, monthly women-in-AI guest sessions, and a curriculum where every class ends with something she made. Founding rate $99/mo, cancel anytime, free trial workshop first.

Does she need any coding experience?

No. The curriculum starts from zero and is project-first. Girls who already tinker get stretched with harder builds inside the same projects, so mixed experience works in one cohort. The free workshop is the honest test: she'll ship something in her first 75 minutes regardless of background.

What does she actually walk away with at the end of the year?

Six concrete things: a personal portfolio page with all her work, an AI model she trained and can explain, a working app she built for a real user, four live showcase presentations of stage experience, a capstone project she chose and presented, and a certificate of completion. See the week-by-week curriculum for what each class produces.

Is this just letting kids use ChatGPT?

No. Using AI tools is the floor, not the curriculum. She learns how AI works underneath, when it fails and why, how to detect AI fakes, how to use AI honestly at school, and how to build with it: she trains her own image classifier, designs chatbots from scratch, and ships an app for a real person. The goal is a girl who directs AI, not one directed by it.

What age should a girl start learning AI?

Research from Microsoft and the National Girls Collaborative Project shows girls' interest in tech peaks around age 11 and declines through 15 — a confidence problem, not an ability problem. Ages 10–15 is the highest-leverage window: early enough to build her identity as a builder, before the drop-off does its damage. That's why our program is built for exactly this window.

My daughter is 14 or 15. Too late?

Not at all. The older cohort (13–15) runs the advanced track: deeper model training, more complex tools, more independent builds, and capstones ambitious enough that some girls ship things people actually use. Choose "14–15" on the signup form and we'll place her there.

🛡️Safety & privacy

Is it safe for my daughter to learn AI online?

With the right safeguards, yes — and the safeguards are the difference. Ours: every instructor background-checked before meeting any class, every session recorded with waiting rooms on, zero student-to-student private messaging, parents own all accounts, and we collect only her first name and age band. Full details on the privacy & safety promise page.

Is the program COPPA compliant?

It's designed around the FTC's updated COPPA Rule, in force since April 2026. Parents hold all accounts and give consent, we collect the minimum possible about the child, no child data is ever disclosed for advertising or AI training, and deletion requests are honored within days. Formal counsel review completes before our first paid enrollment.

Who teaches the classes?

Background-checked instructors with real AI/tech backgrounds, personally vetted by the founder, not generalist tutors from a marketplace. In the founding cohorts, founder Mira Wattar teaches directly or in close partnership with the instructor.

How much screen time does this add?

One live 75-minute class weekly, plus optional project time she'll ask for herself. It's creation, not consumption — the opposite of the algorithmic feed. Every session has a teacher in the room, and every unit ends with something she made.

💳Pricing & commitment

How much does it cost?

Founding families pay $99/month (standard rate $149/month once founding cohorts fill). That includes the weekly live class, all four showcases, monthly guest sessions, session recordings, the weekly parent recap, and her portfolio. Sibling discounts available. The first workshop is completely free, no card required.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Monthly billing, no annual contract, no cancellation fee, no guilt trip. If it's not working for her, stop paying us. We'd rather earn the year than lock you into it.

Why is it paid when Girls Who Code is free?

The school year runs 36 weeks, from her cohort's first class to a capstone showcase. A free intro workshop runs live before you enroll. The founding rate covers the founding 24 families, or until cohorts fill, whichever comes first. Free programs like Girls Who Code and Kode With Klossy are genuinely good and we recommend them — but they're structurally short: volunteer-led clubs or two-week camps. What they can't offer is 36 weeks with the same professional teacher and the same 12 girls, an AI-first curriculum, quarterly parent showcases, and monthly women-in-AI mentors. You're paying for continuity, and continuity is what builds confidence that lasts. Many families do both.

Is there a scholarship?

One scholarship seat per cohort at founding, applied for directly by email. As revenue grows, the scholarship program formalizes and expands.

📅Logistics

When are classes?

Each cohort has one fixed weekly slot (evenings and weekends prioritized) that stays the same all year — same girls, same teacher, same time. You'll pick a slot at enrollment. Cohort schedules are finalized as founding seats fill.

What if she misses a class?

Every session is recorded; she watches before the next class. Missing one session doesn't break continuity by design, but consistent attendance is where the belonging comes from, so we encourage it.

What equipment does she need?

A computer (not a tablet) with a webcam, a Chrome or similar browser, and stable internet. All tools we use are browser-based; nothing to install, nothing to buy.

How does the free workshop work?

You reserve a seat with your info (never hers). She joins one live 75-minute class, builds her first AI project, and demos it at the end while parents watch the last ten minutes. Afterward, families that want to continue get the founding cohort offer. No card, no pressure, and the workshop stands alone even if you never enroll.

Can she enroll with a friend?

Yes — and we encourage it. Two girls who enroll together get guaranteed same-cohort placement and a private duo project session with the founder in month one. Mention the friend's name in the quiz notes or reply to any of our emails.

What if a family can't afford tuition?

Our Sponsor a Seat program lets companies and individuals fund full-year seats for girls whose families can't cover tuition. If that's your situation, email support@aischoolforgirls.com — no proof or paperwork required, just a conversation. If you'd like to fund a seat, see the About page.
